Hi, my name is Juan Lopez and I am a creative, innovative, and driven software engineer based in New York City, NY.


I graduated from University of Miami,in 2020 with a Bachelor's in Software Engineering & Mathematics and later completed a Master's in Data Science in 2021. Currently working at Amazon Web Services as a Software Development Engineer II.


Outside of Software Development, I have a wide range of hobbies and passions that keep me busy. From chess, body building, nutrition, and mathematics. I am always seeking to learn new things, as I continue progressing and growing in my life.


I believe that you should never stop learning and that's what I strive to do, I have a passion for technology and a desire to always push the limits of what is possible. I am excited to see where my career takes me and am always open to new opportunities. 🙂

I designed and implemented internal customer-facing APIs using APIGateway, Lambda, and Smithy, enabling a self-service metric viewing platform. Additionally, I developed metric computations with Elastic MapReduce Jobs, PySpark, and S3 to DynamoDB replication, enhancing customer usability.

Twitter Sentiment Analysis

I used Google Cloud Platform Dataflow streamed and stored approximately 40,000 scraped tweets every 5 minutes in Cloud Storage. PySpark was used for tweet preprocessing, and sentiment analysis was performed using NLTK Vader. The categorized sentimental tweets were integrated into Google Cloud Platform BigQuery for SQL-based queries and analysis.

AI Journalism

Leveraging News Outlets, This platform allows customers to gain valuable insights and updates to current news in a summarized way. This minimizes customer exhaustive manual overhead reading and understanding news articles. Leveraging React, Django, and PostgreSQL to ingest and enhance news articles context in a user friendly way
